Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Sept. 14, 2021) – Jack Dover recorded his best Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour feature finish since October 2016 last Friday at I-80 Speedway.

Dover garnered a runner-up result during the Bobby Parker Memorial, which kicked off a doubleheader at his home track.

“We had two heat races,” he said. “I started in the back (ninth) of the first heat race and got up to fourth. In the second heat we started second and we won that. Come feature-time we started third. The track was pretty good and everybody was really fast. We rode around and once we burned some fuel off the car got really good. Around Lap 20 we were doing slide jobs with Chris Martin for second. I was finally able to get by him with three laps to go. I was 3.1 seconds behind the leader and at the checkered flag we were only two seconds behind so we were really good.

“Obviously our goal every time we go out is to win, but to come out second against the caliber of cars that were there, we were really pleased.”

Dover’s second-place showing was his 24th top five of the season and his best run with the ASCS National Tour since a runner-up result on Oct. 1, 2016, at I-80 Speedway.

He returned to the track on Saturday for the Casey’s Midwest Fall Brawl. A charge from seventh to fourth place in a heat race ranked Dover ninth in points.

“We were really close to getting the third-place car, but came up a lap or two short,” he said. “That put us ninth in points and we just missed the feature redraw by one. Early on in the feature we were running seventh. About Lap 5 my quick change gear in the rear end broke so that ended the race for us.”

Dover was in contention for at least a top 10 prior to the race-ending problem that relegated him to a 22nd-place result.

Next up for Dover is the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial this Thursday through Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

“We’re always like a seventh to 10th-place car,” he said. “As much as we’ve learned I feel we have a good shot at running in the top five. I’m feeling really good going into this weekend.”
