Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (May 26, 2021) – Jack Dover captured the Midwest Sprint Touring Series season opener last Friday at Rapid Speedway for his second triumph of the year.

Dover hustled from seventh to third place in a heat race at the dirt oval in Rock Rapids, Iowa. That earned a spot into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 3 to line up on the inside of the second row, but it didn’t take long for Dover to find the top spot.

“In hot laps I felt like we were garbage,” he said. “I came in, looked over the car and we found something that was pretty obvious. We went out in the heat and had a good run. Then in the feature we were pretty good. I could go whenever I wanted, which is always a plus whenever your car can do that. We were able to hit the bottom in turns one and two to take the lead right away and never looked back.”

Dover led the distance of the race for his 34th career victory with the series and fourth in the last six races dating back to last season.

Dover returned to action in the Rick and Chris Bowers’ No. 81 sprint car on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway, where the team struggled early. Dover qualified 13th quickest before rallying from seventh to fifth place in a heat race. That garnered the 11th starting position for the main event.

Dover advanced a trio of positions to post an eighth-place result, which was his third straight top 10 to start the season at Huset’s Speedway. He ranks sixth in the championship standings – only 38 points out of the lead. Dover is one of only two drivers to record a top 10 during each race at the track this season.

“We were off in time trials,” he said. “The track was still pretty good in the heats and we made up a couple of spots. Then in the feature I tried both lines and it seemed wherever we went we were just as fast as anybody around us. With about 10 or 12 laps to go it started to rubber up so there wasn’t many opportunities to pass.”

This weekend features a busy four-race slate with Midwest Sprint Touring Series events on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., and Saturday at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, S.D. Dover will drive his car during those events before teaming up with the Bowers on Sunday and Monday at Huset’s Speedway for a Northern Outlaw Sprint Association doubleheader.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. ‘The last time we were at Jackson in my personal car was when we won the Jackson Nationals. We have a pretty good baseline going into it and we won last Friday in my car so I feel we’re pretty close. And obviously any time we go to I-90 we get around there pretty well. I’m looking forward to going back to Huset’s and being able to learn some more and hopefully come out of there with some top 10s and maybe top fives.”
