Dover Captures Podium at Rapid Speedway and Victory at I-90 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – HARTFORD, S.D. (July 28, 2020) – Jack Dover enjoyed another great week of competition in the Midwest.

Dover garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars en route to a runner-up result last Tuesday at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, before he scored his sixth triumph of the season on Saturday at I-90 Speedway.

The week’s action began with the first of two Midwest Sprint Touring Series races at Rapid Speedway, where Dover’s advancement of one position in a heat race to finish fourth lined him up on the outside of the sixth row for the A Main.

“We were fastest in hot laps, but something didn’t feel right,” he said. “We went out in the heat race and the car had something wrong. We came in and switched the shocks and bars before the feature. Then we worked our way from 12th to second. I think I could have won if I made the right move. We caught Terry McCarl on the white flag and I tried sliding him in turns one and two. I should have followed him on the top in turns one and two and ran the top in turns three and four. That’s where I was running all night and made a lot of passes.”

Dover’s charge from 12th to second marked his 13th podium of the season.

He then ventured to I-90 Speedway on Saturday. A run from sixth to third place in a heat race gave him a spot in the feature redraw. Dover pulled the No. 5 to line up fifth for the main event.

“They did a phenomenal job of prepping the track,” he said. “With as hot as it’s been we thought it’d be rubber down. It had moisture and stayed good all night. We got up to first by Lap 5. I pretty much ran the bottom. It seemed like people would slide out where my car could rotate the corner well. My car ran up top a couple of laps working through traffic and it stuck real good. I felt like our car was pretty spot on.”

The win was Dover’s sixth of the season and his third at I-90 Speedway.

Next up is the 305 Sprint Nationals at Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kan., this Friday and Saturday.

“I’m really excited,” he said. “For one I like the track. It’s fast and I like high-speed tracks. There’s a lot of money on the line, too. I think we have a good shot at winning or running up front.”
