Inside Line Promotions – NORFOLK, Neb. (Aug. 27, 2019) – Jack Dover used a last-lap pass to capture his eighth feature victory of the season last Saturday at Off Road Speedway.

Dover advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race before starting the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series A Main on the pole. However, he trailed for nearly the entire race until the last set of corners.

“We were pretty good in the heat race, but I missed the setup again and had the car too free in the feature,” he said. “I kept watching the laps on the lap board and drove the car a lot harder with five laps to go. I got close to Jason Martin. Lapped traffic played a big role slowing him up the last couple of laps and it let me slide by on the last corner. I stuck the bottom and got by in turn four coming to the checkered flag.”

The exciting victory boosted Dover’s lead in the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints standings to 25 points with four races remaining. He also owns a 49-point lead in the Midwest Sprint Touring Series standings with four races remaining.

The weekend began on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., which hosted the Speedy Bill Smith Memorial.

“I drew a bad number for the heat and the track was too good,” he said. “I got by Brian Brown with four laps to go and was up to third. We were battling back and forth and he snuck by me so we ended fourth.

“In the feature we thought the track was better than it was and wasn’t prepared for what the track conditions were. We missed the setup. We weren’t terrible, but we weren’t the best. We got up to seventh quickly and just rode around there the rest of the race.”

Dover was credited with a seventh-place finish, which marked his 15th top five of the season.

He will drive for Rick and Chris Bowers this Friday through Sunday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., during the 360 Nationals. Dover enters the three-race weekend ranked third in the track’s championship standings – only nine points out of the lead.

“We’ve won up there this year and have had good results up there,” he said. “We tuned on the motor last weekend to make sure it’s tip-top and I think we have a good plan going into the weekend.”

Dover won two out of the three races during this event last year.
