Inside Line Promotions – HARLAN, Iowa (July 3, 2019) – Jack Dover earned a runner-up result last Saturday during his debut at Shelby County Speedway.

It marked his fifth podium finish of the season and his fifth straight top-five run. The performance also increased his lead in the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints championship standings to 42 points with nine races remaining.

The night began with Dover advancing from seventh to fifth in a heat race. That earned enough points to lock into the feature redraw. Dover pulled the No. 4 to start the main event on the outside of the second row.

“I got to second right away and waited for an opportunity to pass,” he said. “The track was rubber down in the heats so it was tough to make a move all night. We were in position to take the lead when a caution came out with five laps to go. That gave the leader a clear track and we didn’t have another opportunity.”

Dover’s second-place finish was his sixth top five during series competition this season. That leads all drivers.

Next up for the team is a Midwest Sprint Touring Series doubleheader this Friday at Wagner Speedway in Wagner, S.D., and Saturday at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, S.D. Dover enters the weekend on top of the MSTS championship standings.

“We won our last two races at Wagner last year and we’ve won a few at I-90 Speedway, where we haven’t raced in several years,” he said. “We’re excited to head to both tracks and hopefully we can pick up where we left off.”

Dover hasn’t raced at I-90 Speedway since May 2013.
