Inside Line Promotions – NORFOLK, Neb. (June 26, 2019) – Jack Dover overcame a flat tire to post a fifth-place finish last Saturday at Off Road Raceway.

The performance keeps Dover on top of the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints championship standings, but it was a bittersweet moment after a win seemingly got yanked away thanks to misfortune.

Dover opened the night by rallying from fourth to second place in a heat race. He made the feature redraw and pulled the No. 5 to line up fifth in the A Main.

“We got the lead rather quickly, but there were a lot of red flags early on,” he said. “We had four red flags in the first five laps. Before we restarted after the fourth red flag we had to go to the work area because of a flat tire.”

The team replaced the tire and Dover restarted at the back of the field, hustling his way to a fifth-place finish by the time the checkered flag was waved.

“It rained and made for tricky conditions so we were pleased to be able to rally the way we did given the circumstances,” he said. “It’s frustrating that the tire went flat and took us out of the lead, but a lot worse could have happened.”

Next up for Dover and the series is a trip to Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa, on Saturday.

“We’re looking forward to racing at Shelby County Speedway,” he said. “I’ve never raced there and it’s the first time in 20 years sprints have been there so we look forward to racing on a big, high-banked track.”
