Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (July 10, 2023) – Jack Dover captured his first podium finish of the season behind the wheel of a 410ci winged sprint car on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway.

It also marked the third straight race with a podium for Dover, who piloted the Tim Estenson Motorsports No. 14t for the second time this month.

“Ever since Tim’s bad wreck at Huset’s a month and a half ago we’ve been struggling,” he said. “I jumped in the car because I have a little more experience to see if I’m feeling the same thing he has been. In hot laps and qualifying I felt what he was talking about. We changed some stuff and got better for the heat race. We changed a little more for the feature and seemed to get better each time we went out.

“I wanted to jump in at Belleville (on July 3) to see how the car would react, but that’s not the best place to feel it out because it’s a mash the gas type of track. Last night at Huset’s or any other track that’s more technical you can really feel what the car is doing. Not many crew chiefs out there can climb in and be competitive so that’s an advantage as we’re trying to get the car somewhere close to what I think is right for Tim.”

Dover qualified second quickest and advanced a position in a heat race to place third, which made him the high-points driver.

“Qualifying is huge and I knew we’d be sitting good being second quick,” he said. “Going out in Tim’s car and for never being in it at Huset’s with a motor I haven’t run, I was pleased with how we did.”

Dover pulled the second-highest number – seven – during the feature redraw to line up on the inside of the fourth row in the main event.

“It was a little tight in the beginning because of the fuel load,” he said. “We got really good there about 10 laps in. During the last five laps I think two or three laps I didn’t enter right into turns three and four. We struggled coming off turn four at the end of the race. It was a learning deal. It was a great night to get a podium, but the bigger picture is we were able to make some ground up on improving the race car for Tim.”
