Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (Aug. 24, 2021) – Jack Dover earned his best World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series result since August 2016 last Sunday at Huset’s Speedway, where he guided the Rick and Chris Bowers’ owned No. 81 sprint car to a 16th-place finish during the Pioneer Seeds Bin Buster Bash.

“I was surprised when I was racing with Sheldon (Haudenschild) and Gio (Scelzi) and all of those guys,” he said. “I’m getting more aggressive as the season is winding down. I’m getting more comfortable.”

Dover qualified 22nd quickest before advancing from sixth to fifth place in a heat race, which locked him into the main event. He gained a pair of positions in the feature to end 16th.

“We didn’t do well in time trials, but on a weekly show our time would have been top five,” he said. “We got a good start in the heat race and got into fifth. The track was one lane and almost too good. In the feature we did the same thing. We tightened it up and circled around the bottom really good. A couple of guys went up top and we were able to sneak under them or someone would mess the entry of the corner up and we’d sneak under them. Our car was working really good on the bottom. We ended up going down a lap in the race and after the last couple of restarts we were able to battle up there around 13th, but those positions didn’t count since I was a lap down.”

Dover also raced with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series on Friday at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, Neb., where he won a heat race after starting third. That advanced him into the feature redraw.

“We did a revenge redraw and I knew someone would give me the eight, which happened,” he said. “We got up to fourth pretty quick. Then the track started rubbering down. The guy in third messed up and I was able to sneak underneath him, but that was as far as I could get.”

Dover’s third-place outing was his 19th top five of the season.

He has a three-race weekend on tap beginning Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Dover will venture to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday before ending the weekend on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway.
